Audrey

To six year old Audrey
On the plane out of O’Hare airport in January –
Keep laughing.

High pitched peaks of girlish giggles
Up and down with the gusty turbulence it
Feels too much like a roller coaster.

Small hands grasping at the oversized metal buckle
Grandma smacks inquisitive fingers scolding
Be careful, of they’ll throw you out of the plane.

To six year old Audrey
With a backpack full of toys and no coat in January
Your favorite doll is Forgotten beneath seat 15A.
